Ginger Hotel (Goa)
Personal Verdict: 3.25/5.00
I was suppose to go on my official visit to Goa for 4 days in July 2010 and needed a place to check in, in and around Panjim area. Now since this was sort-of official urgency and for my sheer dislike of having to see many hotels individually and then arriving at a decision, I went in with Ginger Hotel on getting to know from a distant relative. Also, because I have stayed in Ginger Hotel before, in Ahmedabad and Baroda (India), I was pretty okay with getting in here.
Known as SGO Complex, it is located on the backside of the buildings on the main road in Panjim, near the main bus depot. There are many shops, ATMs, small eating joints around the place. Infact, I could notice that this area is actually sort of a hub for all government offices located in this belt. Mid-point to North Goa and South Goa, so both parts can be visited at ease. Nearby you shall also find Miramar Beach, Central Library, Cruise Ships on River Mandovi etc.
It’s a great budget hotel, spacious and has a cool red / orange-coloured ambience, good clean rooms, beds / pure-white pillows & mattresses. Room had an AC which was working fine, safe box, flat LCD TV and spacious cupboard. Clean bathrooms and hot shower was available. And all this for around INR 1,800 per day. But yes, for this rate, you need to book online. I found this rate very reasonable.
There was a Cafe Coffee Day kiosk as well inside of the hotel, just in case you wanna read some magazines and enjoy your coffee. Don’t remember if it’s open 24/7. Their cafeteria was also very big, good breakfast menu on board. Never had lunch or dinner in hotel, so can’t comment.
Overall, content with my stay in Ginger Hotel in Goa.
